Today I am saying goodbye to an old friend!
After a good 6 months of training I finally decided to give these amazing running shoes a rest. I LOVE my Saucony Progrid Guide 6! They were the first pair of professionally fitted shoes. I called them “Pink Lightening” not because I was doing any lightning speed workouts in them, but they made me feel like a “real” runner. They are in bad shape, but I love the feel of them on my feet. It was a very hard decision but was very necessary for the health of my feet and knees. Thankfully I was able find the same pair but a different color (thought I would mix it up). Today will be my first day using them. I wanted to hit the outdoor road but alas the polar vortex is back. I am going to attempt it and my lungs will probably hate me but to get on the treadmill will not make me a happy camper.
I am excited to try these newbies out! No name for them yet, but it will hopefully come to me today. Every good pair of shoes needs a name!
Speaking of running….I am attempting to train for a 5K again. I have not actually ran in an official 5K but really want to. I have the opportunity to train and run in the Run Like a Mother Race happening around the US on Mother’s Day. I am so excited to be participating in this great event but I do not want to totally suck! I will have an exciting opportunity for Mom on the Run readers in the coming days around this event. So the training begins…….
What great tips do you have for anyone beginning training for their first 5K? I am all ears and feet!
