Hello! For those who have followed me from my roots I thank you! It has been a long time but I am back with a renewed energy. I took a break from blogging because I lost my voice and needed to attend to some family business. In the last few years we have grown as a family and even have a new addition. We continue to live a very busy life (which we love) with soccer games, school events, and of course a full time teaching job. Our family enjoys all the memories we create daily!
Meet Baby O!
Through all of this I finally realized I needed to start working on me. In May of 2015, I marched myself into a local Weight Watchers centered and began my journey. I was still breast feeding my little one and needed to be careful as weight loss began to decrease my supply. I decided then that slow and steady was going to win this race. During my pregnancy I gained well over 40 pounds on top of the weight I was already carrying. I knew I had to get it under control because obesity was not something I wanted to continue to deal with. It was something I knew I could get in check with some lifestyle changes and tenacity. I realized one day that I have been doing this since 2001 and I needed to just focus on me. Being a mom I put my energy into making sure that everyone’s needs were being met, forgetting that I need to care for myself. If I go down I will be no help to my family. That is why for the last year I have been able to lose 70 pounds using Weight Watchers and now Flexible Dieting.
This brings me to my why and focus on Healthy Mom on the Run. Now that I have been in the trenches and living my weight loss journey for over a year, I want to begin sharing my journey with others who maybe having the same struggles that I have had. I have used every excuse in the book as to why I couldn’t lose weight, but none of them was getting me any closer to my goal—To be a healthy mom who could keep up with her family. I don’t want to be the mom who just sits and watches my kids play—I want to be the mom playing J.
I have so many tips, tricks, resources and healthy recipes that you can recreate in your own busy kitchens. With this I will be documenting my own journey to get the last 60 pounds off. Together we can accomplish our health goals together….Who is with me?
