Thank you for all the compliments of the new page layout. I wish I could take credit for all the hard work. As I did have input and provided ideas, James, from Blog Design Services, did all the hard work. He was amazing to work with, so if you are looking to improve your site I highly recommend his services.
Yesterday I had day off from work (thank goodness for Personal Days). I had some appointments that needed to be taken care of that could not be done after school hours. A double bonus was my little daughter Tajiah also had the day off, so I decided to arrange a girl’s lunch out to celebrate. I decided that because of Lent we needed to dine somewhere that had a plethora of vegetarians items. There is one place that I don’t get to enough but so fit my criteria, It’s Only Natural (aka ION) in Middletown, CT. This restaurant is well known in Central Connecticut for their fantastic dishes and atmosphere.
There are many things that I love about my girl’s eating habits. They love to eat at all types of restaurants and not intimidated by menus that may not have food they have ever heard of. ION is no exception. Most children I know would not be excited about going to a vegetarian restaurant. My girl……She clapped with joy! Got to love it
We started out our “special”lunch with beverages. Tajiah was very excited about a new beverage find for both of us. Izze Sparking Beverage, Birch Beer flavor. Izze is a product that we have on Friday night with our Take Out Fake out Dinners. It is so tasty. Now that they have one of our favorite flavors, it will be even a better Friday night
Sorry for the phone pictures. This bad blogger forgot her camera!
I ordered an incredible tasting Chai Tea with Soy.
We were both very hungry, so we decided to start our lunch with some sweet potato fries. I have had many versions of these, but this version is hands down my favorite, especially with the homemade smoky ketchup for dipping.
Now onto the yummy eats. Tajiah ordered her favorite grilled cheese. Here is ION’s grilled cheese creation. I love how the sweet potato fries look like fingers growing out the sandwich. She was so excited to pose for this blog worthy picture.
I chose my favorite things to eat at ION. I am very boring and always order it. How do you resist this description:
Taco Salad
Corn tortilla shell topped with refried beans, vegetables, brown rice, tofu sour cream, salsa & choice of cheese on a bed of lettuce with tamari & sesame oil
Perfect lunch for a girls day out. We of course cleaned our plates, but did leave some fries for Dad on the Run. I had so much fun chatting and playing table games with my little one. I make it a point to give each of my girls a little bit a time each week for just the two of us. It gives me a chance to catch up with their busy lives on an individual basis.
What are some of your favorite times with a member of your family that you love? Did you have any special traditions with the people who cared for you?
Off to get ready for the Martina McBride concert. I will be sure to blog about the details tomorrow!
