Please excuse my blog “vacation”. I had life hit me like a ton of bricks. Between work and home I just needed some time for me. I can’t promise that I will be able to post daily but I am trying to get back into my blog routine. Thanks for all your kind emails and well wishes. Everyone at Mom on the Run is doing great but "Spring Fever” has hit. We love the warmer weather :)

This weekend we started back with the girls road race season. Usually Dad on the Run participates in the races as well, but he is currently injured with what the doctors believe is strained foot ligaments. We have decided to let the girls continue to participate because they love traveling to different venues and running with other children who share their passion. It was great weather for racing and both girls did very well.

After the race it was still early in the day and we decided that we wanted to go out for a special lunch. Being only 30 minutes from NYC we decided to travel to the city and have brunch at a restaurant that I have really wanted to try, Bobby Flay’s Mesa Grill.  We picked up Mom on the Run’s fellow foodie friend Food Snob and we were on our way.

We had attempted to make reservations, but of course there were none available. This did not stop us. We decided to go directly to the restaurant, see what the wait time was, and than make a plan from there. Can I just say mission accomplished! The wait time was 90 minutes, which is not bad considering that it was a Sunday afternoon around 12:30. This gave us an opportunity to visit my favorite gluten-free bakery, Tu-lu’s.

IMG_4274IMG_4275 Such a yummy experience. We were able to try Tully’s signature drink, Brown Sugar Lemonade. It was very tasty. The Mom on the Run family finally got to experience Tu-lu’s in person. Very exciting!

After grabbing our bakery treats to go, we made the journey back to Mesa Grill. Our table was ready and it was time to eat. The ambiance was nice for a family lunch. The menu was packed was a ton of dishes that I wanted to try. It was very hard to narrow it down to one choice, but I think I chose wisely.

The Review- The main dish has a great combination of flavors. Every bite was mouth watering. The home fries were extremely disappointing. They lacked flavor and the texture was as if the potatoes had been sitting out for a while. I really didn’t need to potatoes as the rest of the dish was very filling.

Dad on the Run chose- Spicy Chicken and Sweet Potato Hash with poached eggs and green chili hollandaise. He gave this dish two thumbs up.

IMG_4280 Daijia chose- Crispy Bacon and Hash Brown Quesadilla with fried egg and spicy tomato salsa.  I had to try a bite of this. We all agreed that this was probably the best quesadilla we had ever eaten. The flavors were absolutely fabulous together.

We were so excited by our dining experience. I would love to go back to try the dinner menu, because that also looks really good. Dad on the Run and I get to cross another one of the restaurants that we want to try. If feels great!

The girls had a great day in the city and were sad to say good-bye to their new fur friend Mickey.
